Here goes my admission of noobness with this gun:

So I bought my first USP about three months ago and I love it.

Are there any quirks about this gun that I should know about? It's an AH series number if thats important.
I've only put about 200 rounds through it so far and I clean it thoroughly after ever range trip or 50 rounds.

Last night I bought and installed a promag rail adapter (part# PM063) and my TLR-2. I am wondering if anybody knows of a vertical carry shoulder holster I can get to carry this new setup when I go working and hunting on my ranch.

I prefer shoulder carry because it keeps the gun out of the way when I'm working or carrying my .270 during deer season and it doesn't feel awkward while riding tractors, jeeps and the like around the property. I might be able to get away with a drop-leg type rig, I've used them in the past but I've found them un reliable at times, probably due to my only real experiance being with knock-off holsters used when I used to get into airsoft.

I appreciate the help and any advice you guys can give.

As an aside to hopefully not be looked down upon for playing airsoft in the past: I quit playing airsoft when I realized how dumb it was for me to buy a $900 AR that shot plastic bb's and 'fight' in matches when I could better afford to buy guns that I can use to help maintain and protect my property from depredation and possible myself and family should something bad happen. Since then the airsoft guns have been sold, except for one thats just too fun to shoot, and replaced by a growing collection of self-defense, hunting and eventually competition firearms.

Thanks again, and I apologize for the rambling nature of this post.

Oh, I would appreciate any suggestions for ammo, target and defensive, I'm currently using remington umc for target and hornady tap 230's for defense.

Safariland makes a drop leg rig for that combo. Check out:

Thanks, that looks like it will be my best bet.

Sadly, I might regret getting the TLR-2 now. When I tried to sight the laser in today I could get it close but the laser moved off zero every time I shot. It still grouped the shots close enough for defense, but not as reliably as I would expect. That is it would keep 4 out of 5 rounds fired on a 6 inch target at roughly 10 yards.

In contrast without the laser I shoot groups of 5 in the same stance, with the same ammo in the 2-4 inch range. I even accidentally drew a frown on one target today with 10 shots touching each other in an arc about 4.5 inches long, without the laser.

Has anyone else experienced a similar problem with their laser sight? I was using UMC 230 grain target rounds and I expect it will be worse if I use the hornady tap 230grain +P's I keep in it.

I appreciate the help.

The laser on a light isn't going to work like a zeroed in laser aiming device. There is just too much give in they way they are mounted, regardless of the mount..ie plastic flexes, etc. Just like with Crimson Trace- sometimes if you squeeze the grip too tight you'll move the laser a tad. The laser is really more of a deterrent and rough guide, for those applications where you can't get behind your sights.
