ISSUE SOLVED! LOOK AT MY LAST POST ON THIS THREAD
I just bought an HK USP 40 compact Variant 2.
Shoots great and love it but here's the problem:
The control lever works fine when placing it in the "safe" position.
The control lever is VERY difficult to use for it's decocking function to the point where I'm thinking something might be wrong with it.
I bought it brand new and would be able to send it to HK but I wanted to know if anyone out there has had this problem.
The pistol functions flawlessly, 500 rounds so far, and I have made sure the decocker was lubricated as well as working it 100 times.
If anything it's gotten harder to decock.
Thanks,
Sheckie

I guess I'm sending it off to HK, probably a minor fix.
Before you send it off, try celaning/re-lubing the detent plate. Probably nothing wrong with your pistol. Same thing happened to mine, and others...

Well, already lubed it up but tried it again and even replaced the detent plate (sent to me from HK).
The decocker is impossible to use with one thumb let alone one hand. This is a 2 hand, two finger operation. Unbelievable. Don't understand. Is this so because it's a V2 left handed option and the frame is actually built for a righty?

I would inspect/lube/replace the detent slide/spring next.

I bought this brand new at a gun shop in CT. I told the owner about the issue and he told me to call HK. I did call HK and they sent me a new detent which is very easy to in stall. I lubed it up, installed it and still have the same problem.
Maybe I'll call HK again and ask what my next options are?
Can't hurt to call.
Thanks for the responses.

I am a HK armorer in MI. I have been seeing alot of problems with V2 levers being sticky and impossible to use the decock function. It is either a problem with the levers that HK has been producing or something in the recent productions of USP's that do not accept the V2 levers properly.
Mind you have tried detail stripping and cleaning, relubing, greasing, different switch plates etc and still had to luck with getting the V2 to perform correctly.
So, what I have been doing for people wanting V2 is rather selling and installing the ambidextrious levers. They have been working fine since they are based off of the V1 levers.
I would look at getting a ambi-safety and get rid of the V2 lever. I don't think it'll be worth the time and hassle to get that V2 working.

SOCOMguy,
This makes good sense to me as I've suspected it MIGHT be a design flaw.
I've tested the V1 versions at various gun shops and they worked smooth as silk.
I love the HK USP 40 compact I have and will try the ambi-safety.
Thanks for the info., I appreciate it and will post the results of the solution to this issue.

Welp, I just have to reply to my own post because I saved the $50.00 it would have cost to send it off to HK.
The issue has been solved.
You ready.............it's extremely complicated and complex......don't try this at home, unprofessional gun smith, closed basement......
Snip 2-3 coils off of Item #43, the compression spring, identification #214104.
Works PERFECTLY.
Issue solved.
Feel free to contact me for details.
Thanks for all of the great help and suggestions.
