Big plug for Marshall and the guys at CDNN. Even with this week's mad blitz of gun purchases they got my P30L out without delay.
My first impressions over my USP 45c:
1. Obviously the grip is the first thing you notice with these new HKs, and my wife was just as impressed with the grip changes over the USP (I have a Handall Houge grip on it currently). The gun came with the medium sized panels and backstrap out of the box, and I think keeping the medium backstrap but changing to the larger side panels gives it the right fit in my hand, whereas the medium side panels and small back strap brought an almost naughty moan from the Mrs. ;)
2. The magazine release is more accessible than the USP due to it's increased size, and for my sized hands feels 'right.'
3. The gun's ambidextrous nature by having the slide release on both sides of the frame will certainly increase my confidence when shooting left handed. BTW I did not notice any issues with the slide release fit or finish as another thread here has noted.
4. The DA trigger pull appears to be the same as my USP, but the SA pull is improved.
5. The one aspect of the P30L that I am most impressed with and feel the photos online don't do it justice is it's width. This is more like a 1911 in width than I expected and shouldn't have an issue carrying the 'long slide.'
Can't wait to get this to the range on Monday. I'll post pictures later in comparison to my USP along with a range report.
UPDATE: I just posted my range report:
