OK, I'm nearing the end of my handgun "keeper" collection (before I begin on the long guns)and I know I want one of my last ones to be an HK in .45 caliber. I've had a USPc .40 w/SS. I loved that gun, but consolidated ammo to 9mm, .45, and .223. I have .22 also, but that doesn't count.
I'm unsure if I want another USPc, HK45c, or go for the bigger guy in HK45.
I usually keep my handguns in the carry size and also have pretty small hands (5'7" 140lbs), but the HK45 is pretty cool for home defense.
This will give me 4-9mm (3HK and 1CZ) and 3-.45cal (2 1911 and ?)
Give me your thoughts.
Also, if you put "other" give meyour suggestion.

You can't go wrong with any Hk. However I have both the Hk45 & Hk45C. I love them both. I lean more towards the Hk45C which I now have three of them. Either one in my opinion would be an excellent choice.

What trigger do you recommend?

I really like the USP 45 Compact. If you go with the CT version you will get the plus of having the threaded barrel. Either way you cannot go wrong with HK and the 45's shoot great. I just rounded out my collection with a Mark 23. I can't wait to pick it up.

If you're thinking home defense, I'd go with the HK45 fullsize for added capacity. But along that train of thought, as much as I love my HK45, because of their 12+1 capacity, I use 2 USP45s for home defense, one upstairs, one downstairs. (Both with M2 UTLs)

I was able to find both of these guns used, in outstanding shape, for just a couple hundred bucks over the price of a single HK45. (~ $1100 vs $900) Both are Variant 1.

I like full size .45's but any would be a good choice.

HK 45. I took mine shooting again this weekend. The trigger is nice; the ergonomics are great, and the recoil is mild for a polymer.

Sounds like you already have a few carry guns, get the fullsize hk45

+1 on the HK45 full size if your primary purpose is home defense, especially if you are considering putting a light on the rail. It will fit better on the full size than on the 45c.

I went ahead and gave you a +1 on the HK45. And here's why:

1) You have 3 HK's in 9mm and only one in .45,
2) You mentioned it wouldn't be a bad gun for home defense, and
3) You give yourself HK45c a big brother.

I like my USPc .45. Fits my hand well and is easy to carry. Just a proven workhorse for many shooters. With the right holster the USPf .45 would work as well.

Please forgive this question if it has been answered or is very basic - but what are the differences between the HK45/HK45c and the USP series?
Thank you.

If you are leaning towards a carry gun than the HK45C, I do like the grip better on the full size but for carry do your self a favor and get the HK45C, so you can carry it with out it being overly bulky.
