Is this something that I should even be thinking about doing myself? I am technically competent but haven't done anything serious to any of my guns.

Also, does anyone know where I can by one of these things? TIA.

If you go slow when removing the pieces, you will probably be ok. I have not taken down my HK45c, but have done it to the USPc. I do not know if they are internally similar, but the sticky for USP disassembly might help.

I have e-mailed HK a few times recently without a response, so it might be better to call them for the part. I have not seen it available anywhere else. Maybe someone could post a source.

I had the gunsmith do it and he charged $15. Well worth if for peace of mind.

+1 to the gunsmith, while you probably would eventually figure it out taking it to a local smith would be much easier. And shouldnt cost to much.

Thanks, guys. I actually did get a response from HK. The lever costs $66 and they wanted another $70 for installation and return shipping. By the time I paid to ship it to them the whole thing got a little nuts price-wise.
