Hi guys I am looking at the AKJ Concealco iwb holster for my HK45C and I need opinions on which one to get, the one with the sweat shield or not??? I was looking at all three models they have, but mainly the new select grade reinforced sweat shield iwb and the regular one. I don't think I need it to shield my sweat but I was wondering if it would be more comfortable than the regular one...??? Opinions and/or direct knowledge will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Not to hijack your post but since whoever answers is likely to have experience with this holster, are they lined? Thanks

Very few holsters are lined anymore and I don't see a real need. Have two standard grade AKJConcealco holsters, both with an optional sweatshied (you don't have to get the select grade to have a sweatshield). I recommend a sweatshield if you carry in the summer against bare skin. These are quality holsters made by a reliable, innovative craftsman. I have owned many IWB holsters and would rank AKJ right up there. Unique, functional design (comforable too) and the price is right. I think the standard grade is plenty fine but your call.

Thanks again Kraig, so it looks like I am swaying toward the one with the sweat shield but does anyone have any experience or opinions between the regular sweat shield vs. the new select one???

I've got one with a sweat shield for a Browning Hi Power. If I order one in the future, I'll got without it. It realy doesn't do much (IMO) except get in the way. Since the USP doesn't have real sharp edges like a 1911 safety or hammer, or even a BHP, I'm sure you'll do fine without.

Anyone else have any input?

I have two, niether of which hav the sweat guard. One is for my p2ksK and the other for my Fullsize USP... as long as you wear two shirts you will never have a problem. If you are carrying a pistol with sharper edges it might help there. The fullsize is VERY concealable with this holster.

Ordered a Concealco Select Grade about a month ago. My CC was charged a week ago. Before I start calling them, anyone know approximately how long afterwards I should expect the holster ?

When I ordered my select grade there was expedited delivery on it and I got it in somewhere around a month. I would give him a call or e-mail him to make sure everything is all right. My guess is you will probably get it in another couple of weeks since your card was just charged last week.

Yup, website said expedited delivery for mine as well. The fact that my card was charged a week ago tells me it should be soon. But I just don't know how much longer I should wait before I call them.

Your welcome, I got mine with the sweat shield I figured it would be more comfortable. Only thing is the safety gets caught on it a little bit when I am holstering it, which won't be a problem any longer once I get me LEM kit from HK, it's only been gee 3 weeks now...They said I should have had it already but someone their dropped the ball and did not send it out...argh

Aw, come on man. Don't rain on my parade with the sweat shield problems! I got mine with that too. Why does it get caught on the safety? Is it flimsy or stiff? It's unfortunately a must in the Arizona heat, keeps the slide off my skin, and thought it would be good for indexing/reholstering.

The tip of the safety gets caught on the top edge of the sweat shield, it is fairly stiff. What I do is as I am holstering her(HK45C) I press my thumb against the slide, just below the safety, and my thumb extended past the safety and than holster it so the sweat shield gets pushed away from the safety. It takes a a wee bit of practice, you get used to it and it's not as bad as it sounds. It does become second nature after a bit, so don't become discouraged. It's a minor annoyance that is easily overcome.

Thanks. I'm sure it'll be fine. I just don't like putting my thumb near the safety when reholstering, but guess I'll just have to practice that way. Have a Sparks VMII on order, so if this one doesn't work out, hopefully that one will work out better....only 5 more months of waiting....:170000:

Got a Concealco Brown Select Grade for my HK45c yesterday. Very nice rig. My first leather holster.

2nd2none: You're right. The sweatshield does catch on the safety. Will just need to work on pushing it aside with my thumb.

Very snug fit. To the point where holstering the gun actually racks the slide. Not good. Will need to do a few hundred draws (without the mag) to break it in a bit.

Will post pics later.

Andy (the owner) makes good quality holsters and is a great guy to deal with. I've had him do custom builds for a couple of Colts that I couldn't find IWBs for. Neither have the sweat shield and both work very well. Might not be a super quick turn around, but he's definitely quicker than other custom holster shops... and less expensive. It was nice when he lived here in Washington.

My holster broke in pretty quick, Now mine draws real easy. It broke in a day or two, just keep it in the holster.
