Has any one else had this problem on a P30, P30l, HK 45 or 45c? I have shot 600 rounds through my P30 and discovered today while cleaning.
Where the serial number is placed on the metal strip in the middle of the picatinny rail.
On the other side where the slide would rub on, the silver strip has come through the polymer so that I can see a silver dot now where the slide is contacting the frame.
Has anyone else had this happen on any HK, or is this a common thing. I will try to post a picture as it is very obvious. This shouldn't ever affect the performance of my pistol right? Thanks for the input, I will post a pic asap.

It's totally normal. And some polymer will flake off of your frame rails as well. Nothing to worry about.

I knew about the frame rails, just wasn't aware of the frame/slide/serial tag wear. Thanks for the super fast response.

Yep . . . I agree.

Mine came like this brand new, and it is AI date coded and factory test fired on aug of 2008. I wonder if alot of them come this way already, and some people just dont disassemble the gun before shooting the first time?
There are some other points of metal inserts in my frame that do not appear to have any polymer on them, or are flaking. I have not fired this gun yet either as I just got it on saturday. If alot of the polymer flakes off, what still holds the metal to the frame? Are these metal inserts actually alllot larger than I think?

Yeah I think your pistol probably was showing the metal in that area from the beginning and you just didn't notice it.
As far as I know, there is nothing that makes regular contact with that area of the frame to even cause wear to the plastic.

I cleaned my pistol the first time, trust me. I don't remeber seeing them, but on my hk45, I noticed right away that it was there when I first cleaned my pistol.

mine too, as well as my p2000sk. It's not worn through, it's made like that.

I didnt mean to sound condesending with that statement. It was just of my own personal experience. The first handgun I ever bought.....I neglected to clean before shooting for the first time. I failed to realize the stuff on the gun from the store was just a preservative and not a lubrication.
On the bright side that was only a glock, nothing actually happened to the gun. I have learned to do the cleaning before I shoot it for the first time though. All other firearms I had owned up to that point were handed down to me by my father, so they were all properly lubricated and maintained before I shot them the first time.
I have seen friends do this also. Go to the store, buy a gun, and head straight to shooting it from the store. They would probably think I'm a little bit anal in cleaning before shooting it, but I think it is good practice and familiarizes you with the gun more, Helps you check for defects, etc.
I imagine wether or not the gun comes this way with serial numbers and things showing through and the extra polymer is just a result of the mass production. I dont believe glock has any of the metal inserts in the polymer, and thats why people never notice it in a glock. I do not have any experience with any other polymer handguns, so I do not know if this is the case with any others as well.

My P30 and HK45 both had the bare metal nub visible right from the start. I don't know how this area of the pistol could get any wear because, as far as I can tell, nothing touches the frame here. The recoil buffer and a portion of the slide pass through this channel of the frame, but they don't seem to make any contact with the polymer. I see no additional wear in this area of my P30 after 12K rounds.
Another area where you will see exposed metal on the P30 frame is near the trigger where the guide rod assembly seats into the frame during recoil. As far as I can tell, mine hasn't gotten any worse over time.

I have a brand new P30L that hasn't been fired. The silver spot is there. It still has the red paint on the spring. This is to indicate it hasn't been fired yet, correct?
