Hello all. Just introducing myself to the board here. Been lurking around the past couple weeks or so. Just bought my first HK, a P30 about a week ago. I've only been into guns since this past May when I got my CPL and have made up ground pretty fast. Since then I've bought 2 Glocks(19,26), 3 Sigs (P220, P226ST, P239). I've since sold the 26 to help with the purchase of the 226ST.

I just shot my P30 for the first time since the rental gun this past Sat. Very nice gun indeed. I have to get used to the trigger, but it's not that different from the Sigs. Accuracy was excellent, but again after shooting Sigs I'm quite used to accurate handguns. I tell you, this gun thing really gets expensive. I don't know if I'll buy another gun before the years is out, but these HK's are some really nice pistols. I've been debating whether to get another .45 and the HK45c is very tempting. I also handled a P2000 .40 LEM the other day and that's a nice gun as well. The only problem being, I've never shot a .40 and I'm unsure if I want to add another caliber to my collection (9mm and .45).

Sorry for the long winded intro. Hope to contribute here with anything I've learned this far. One thing I know is HK's rock.

Welcome aboard. You're right, this is one expensive hobby, but very rewarding. The HK45c is a great choice, if that's what you settle on, you'll be pleased.

The 45c with a hogue grip works great for me.

I traded my SIG 226 Blackwater for my P30 and have no regrets. That was honestly my 2nd 226 I have owned. I also just traded my 2000SK v3 for a 45C v1. I love Hk and I am now stuck to this brand like glue. I have owned upwards of 40+ guns in my life (Glocks, Colts, S&W, SIG, Kimber, Ed Brown) and these are by far the best shooting guns I have ever owned bar none.

Welcome. Your building up a great collection. My vote would be not to pass up on the HK45. A really great pistol.

I think your best bet would be to get them all! My 45C with a Streamlight stays on my night stand and makes a great night light. The P2000 .40 LEM makes a great carry gun and is capable of shooting much better than I can. I have the P30L instead of the P30 and it's just as much fun to shoot as its shorter brother. Although they all live in the safe none are safe queens, they were made to shoot and I have to do something with all that ammo.

Welcome aboard. Should you decide to try a .40 I don't think you'll be disappointed. At least not by the caliber itself. I enjoy shooting the .40 a lot.
It's only drawback (to some anyway) is the expense of the ammo. I like big bores, .45 ACP and .41 Magnum myself so I naturally like the .40 S&W. I understand your hesitation to add yet another caliber, but again you won't be disappointed by the proformace.:D

I think that's my biggest hesitation. .45 is already pretty pricey and .40 is almost the same cost. I think my first inclination is to get another .45 that I can carry and shoot at the range. The 220 is just too big for EDC. Then maybe add the .40 if I'm still suffering "lack of a new pistol this month" syndrome.:D

I'm the same way. I bought two HK's in 9mm after selling a Glock in .40. Now I've got a nice stash of 9mm hollow points, but I really want a USP tactical. I think I'd rather keep it all in one caliber so I may go with the USP SD.

The biggest problem with guns is that once you start buying them you'll never want to stop. Once you buy that P30, you'll be saving up for another HK.....then another....and another....and another.....it never ends. It's not good.

Hey if you like .40cal, go for it. The US economy will thank you for the contribution. Indeed, our shooting hobby can become very expensive.

I have only owned .40's or .45's but I do think it's time for a P2000 SK in a 9mm. Great carry gun and the reduced ammo price will allow me to shoot a lot more. Before I do it thought I've got to check out this P30. My USP is getting lonely so we'll see what happens.
