hey guys,

this is my first post, but i have been reading the forums for quite a while now. Anyway, I would like to get some feedback/ideas about add-ons for my usp compact .40

I am thinking that a rail adapter and a scope mount with a red dot would look cool, but i have never seen this on a tactial. anyone know where i can find a pic of one?

I don't believe that there is a compensator for the compact .40, but if I am wrong and they exist, please let me know.

Thanks in advance guys (and girls)

I would suggest night sights, hi cap mags if they are legal where you live, and spend your money on ammo and practice. In my opinion, red dot sights on compact or mid size "combat" (non-target/bullseye) type handguns are a bit of a waste. The rail adapter may be a good idea, especially if you already have a light that you like that is not compatible with the HK rail. Again, IMHO training is the best "accessory" you can get for handgun proficiency.

Definitely night sights; makes all the difference when you're trying to check out those "bumps" in the night. If the USP is going to be a nightstand gun then a rail adapter and perhaps an LED light, like the TLR1, would be another good option. For me a Houge Handall was something that made a huge difference (I have rather large hands), but you'll need to trim it down to make it fit so the mags don't clip the bottom of the grip. Of course, as PD Sgt. suggested, hi-cap mags are always a great idea.

i have 4 or 5 hi-caps already. night sights are taken care of also.

as far as practice, i have put over 5,000 rounds through the gun this year alone (another 2,000 last year when i bought it new). I am not claiming to be able to hit a paintball on a golf tee from 50 yards, but i shoot above average.

I am not so much concerned with how much of a difference the upgrades will make in performance. I am looking more towards the "wow" factor.

My carry piece is a SA 1911 Champ "Loaded", so i can afford to do whatever I want to this gun. I don't want anything permanent attached, just something fun to play with.

Again, i have searched high and low for pics, but have found nothing.

I personally would send it to Bill Springfield & allow him to smooth/enhance the trigger. Especially on a carry piece a shorten reset is always welcome IMHO.

For me I can not stand the bobbed hammer.
I replaced them on both my compacts.
Other than that NS, Handall and Wolfe mainspring covers just about everything.

Nothing says WOW like a drop in .357 SIG barrel. No other mods neccessary; utilizes the same mags. I gaurantee you'll get a "bang" out of it!
