I used some bore cleaner solution on my P7s gas escape tube and used Breakfree CLP after it was cleaned and dried and it works great. However, I am wondering if there are any issues with using this harsh solution on other parts of my guns if I let it dry and put a coat of lube.

Solidgun,

some bore cleaners are safe to be used on all parts of a gun (and left on after cleaning) - but not all of them. Also, they are what the name says: bore cleaners. Not lubricants.

Personally I would advise to use them for cleaning only and wipe them off afterwards. Follow up with a thin coat of a good lubricant (e.g. Breakfree CLP) on all parts.

I guess I will double check which bore cleaner I have (I know there is a bear on it but the name escapes me at this time as I bought this for cleaning AR-15s and I don't use these too often)

I really wanted this to work out as my P7's slide moved much easier than before after thorough cleaning and Breakfree CLP.

Thank you, Valynor.

Some time ago I came across Weapons Shield in my research and have found nothing but great reviews from users. I ordered a 16 oz bottle and will be using it along with lithi shield for the rails. Weapons Shield is a do all type of product that cleans, preserves, and lubricates. Many people have said that due to it's metal binding properties it makes cleaning very easy. Everything just wipes off. People have noted their weapons cycling smoother with use. You can use this product on all parts of the gun. I suggest you look into it. I will be using these two products only on my new p30L and note it's benefits over time.

Which bore cleaner was it? I bought some Gun Scrubber, and later realized that it comes in non-chlorinated and chlorinated versions. The chlorinated ones may cause discoloration on some plastics. Some will even soften plastics. Either will be fine, but keep it away from the plastic grip panels on your P7 until you determine if it causes them any problems.

I took my P7 panels off and put some on the inside to test first, and it didn't cause any problems.

And just an FYI - there's another product that also comes in chlorinated and non-chlorinated versions - disk brake cleaner, which is what Gun Scrubber is.

But generally, a bore solvent isn't going to hurt any of the other metal parts. Just be careful with your P7 grips, and if you have some of the Nills grips, I'd test them first as well.
