I wonder if P30 likes one brand of ammo over the other?
Tomorrow is the day. The new toy comes home I need to feed it.
Do you mean defense or target ammo? Most reports about HK are that they will eat almsot anything. Mine like Federal American Eagle (9mm and .45) I have had zero malfunctions.
Congratulations on getting a new one!

I was wondering the same thing, for defense. I got 200 rounds of WWB at wallyworld to break her in ($20/100) but I am not sure what to get for defense.
I was thinking hydrashocks, but some others suggest other loads.
Only 41 hours until I am "cooled off" enough to pick her up!

Mine eats everything, mostly reloads, wwb, umc, and various defense rounds.
For defense I recommend Win. SXT.

Can you put lead down them or is that a no-go in their barrels, like the Glock?

Practice: WWB for $20/100 rounds.
Defense: Federal HST +P 127 grain. (SXT also a great round!)

I got 500 rounds of 124 grain Fiocchi ammo for my break in period. It's hotter than standard and very close to Nato spec 9mm which the pistol is designed to shoot. The p30 loves it.
Can't go wrong with the following for self defense loads:
Federal HST 124gr JHP
SPEER GoldDot 124gr
SPEER GoldDot 124gr GDHP +P

When the gun is brand new stay away from some ligher loads such as Remington UMC and Winchester White Box. The new springs on the P30 are stiff and have a hard time cycling the weaker rounds which can cause some issues. It is best to stick with 124grain ammo at least for the first 200+ rounds.

So far I have put 300 rds of WWB through mine and another 30 or so rds of Fed HST 124 +p's with no problems. I have some Fiocci 115 grn that I have not started using yet but will put them through soon.

Do you mean as opposed to higher grains? I am not doubting you, but do you have an article or something that specifies this?

I was told this a while back by HK Customer Service regarding the multiple feeding issues that people were having with new H&K 9mm handguns. The gun was designed to run and function with NATO spec ammo which is why some owners were having issues with 115 grain ammo when the gun was brand new (tons of threads if you do a search). Also from personal experience I find my 9mm guns to be the most accurate with 124grain ammo.
I called HK CS as well, when I first bought mine and asked them about ammo. Travis (if I remember that name correctly) said Federal American Eagle was good, it's what they used in the shop... but did he not specify a grain. Haven't had any problems with 115gr, but now I wonder if my HK would like 124 better, accuracy wise.

Ive shot Federal HST 124+p/147gr+p & Hydrashoks 124gr+p , Hornady TAP 124gr, Corbon DPX 115gr, Remington 124gr+p/115gr+p, and many WWB 115 gr. And my P30 has never had the slightest problem or malfunction. My current carry/defense rounds are the Federal HST 124 gr+p & 147gr+p. I chose these based on internet research. These bullets have the best expansion of any brand ive seen so far. Second choice would be the Corbon DPX.

I use Fiocchi 124gr. or WWB 115gr. for practice and Federal HST 147+p for home defense and she eats the stuff up.

That's what it was designed to use. 124

Anybody have any experience/comments with Georgia Arms "Canned Heat" in 124gr? I'm asking about this for range ammo with respect to accuracy, cleanliness, muzzle velocity.
I've been using 115gr WWB and was wondering if the Georgia Arms would be any better or worse.

Used WWB when new because I already had some. Currently using Federal 124gr. American Eagle for practice and Federal LE Tactical HST 124gr. for defense.

i'VE put about 300rds of Reloads through my P30L w/o any probs. I normally used federal/Winchester/and Reloads! That gun will eat just about anything.

What he said. ^
My gun burped a few times with the UMC range ammo the first time out, but has been fine ever since.
American Eagle is what I run at the range. Never a hiccup and it is plenty accurate.
I carry 124 gr. Gold Dots. Functioning is flawless and accuracy is excellent with both the standard velocity and +P loadings. I have tried pretty much everything out there through my P30 and keep coming back to the Gold Dots.
What a great pistol. Get yourself a "Mason-Dixon" IWB/OWB holster from Brock over at Bluegrass Holsters and you'll be all set for ccw. Welcome to the club.

my hks have chewed up all kinds of ammo. I prefer the 147gr variety now.
