I have an AA date coded USP45 Stainless that I purchased a few years back. I've only put about 150 rounds through it but decided I'd like to get a suppressor. I already have the match trigger installed in my USP45.

I have been doing some reading and it appears the USPT barrel is a direct replacement. I read somewhere that there is a groove in the USPT slide for the o-ring that the standard USP does not have. It had a link to a how to modify tutorial on Capital City Firearms page but the link was dead. It was stated that if you just replace the barrel you might have problems with the slide nicking or cutting the o-ring. Does anyone have any information on this?

And the last question is, whether or not I need to replace the sights on the USP to be able to fire downrange with the suppressor. I know the Tactical comes with the taller adjustable sights. I'm just trying to determin if I am better off selling the USPF and buying a USPT. I do like the stainless slide more than the black but its not a deal breaker. I see CDNN has the USPT for 929.

Thanks

I think you are MUCH better off just selling the USPf and buying the USPf Tactical. It will probably be cheaper that way, plus also, a converted USPf will never be worth as much as a virgin fullsize Tactical. And, yes you will need to replace the sights on the USP to be able to see over a can - that's why the Tactical has such tall sights to begin with.

The best groups I've ever shot was with a USPf Tactical 45. . . GREAT gun!

I had an stainless USP45F and I bought a factory threaded barrel & changed the sights to the adjustable type. I had no problems with it. It kept the same o ring until I sold it, which I regret.

I was going to trade with someone on the site that had a USPT for sale. I was going to pay him 100 difference, 25 for FFL transfer, and then 60 to Fedex to ship. It appears the barrel from MidwayUSA is about 239 so it would probably be cheaper to arrange a trade or sell and buy, but I do really like the stainless slide.

If I were to sell the USP45 SS with the match trigger installed with all the original accessories and 2 10 rd mags and 2 12 round preban before 94 mags that are practically new, what would it be worth?

It has the older style grey box.

I'm figuring between the sights and the barrel it would cost about 325-350 in HK parts to make the swap. I'm still on the fence.

Thanks for all the help guys. I really appreciate your input.

Really if you want a Tactical it is cheaper to just buy one. You need a new barrel, $225 +-, match trigger, $125, and match tall sights, $135, and yes, you must have the taller sights to see over a can.
And it will still be a clone job with no serial number on the barrel or the word "Tactical" on the slide so you will not get as much out of it when you sell as you would if it were a real Tactical. Still, you want a Tactical with a stainless slide you need to clone one.
Worth of your stainless, two 10 round mags are worth nothing to those in free states, so you just throw them in for free. A used SS USP.45 in excellent condition IMO is worth about $650-700 if complete and nothing missing. Add $50-$75 for the match trigger since you never get as much out of a used pistol as you put into it, not even a stainless USP. JMO

Can you install a Tac/O-Ring barrel into a USP45 Slide without modification? I thought you had to do something to the slide for the O-Ring to lock up correctly (I could be wrong)?
