as i was cleaning the new P30 after my first trip to the range (report coming soon) i noticed the red paint on the recoil spring was turning my rag red. the more i rubbed the more paint came off. i dont want paint coming off inside my weapon for obvious reasons. any suggestions?
thanks,

You didn't clean it before you shot it?:5: All half-kidding aside, what obvious reasons? It won't cause a malfunction. Also, cleaning it first would be my suggestion.

It looked to me like rust at the first look too, but after cleaning is all gone.
No worries here.

You didn't clean it before you shot itnot necessary. i did lube it, but i dont think that was necessary either since it was already pretty wet out of the box.

Don't worry about the red paint coming off as it is normal and will eventually come off by itself as you put rounds through the gun.
While you do not have to give the new gun a detailed cleaning when new, its recommended to remove all of the thick packing grease.

Yeah, the red paint came off on mine but has not been an issue of any kind. LOL, I though it was rust at first myself. My HK45c didn't have the paint.

The red paint is only used to designate a 9mm recoil system.

My USP9 (date code AI) did not have a painted recoil spring. Does this only apply to the Pseries pistols?

The USPc9 has the red spring.

Cleaning BEFORE shooting IS necessary. It does not come from the factory lubed, it comes from the factory with a thick layer of PRESERVATIVE! Not the same thing. Before shooting you should clean your pistol completely then lube it with proper gun lube.
If you had done that you would have gotten most of the red paint off before shooting but that part doesn't matter. Red paint flecks are not going to do any harm to anything and it is on there just to ID the 9mm spring for the assemblers back at HK.

I just ordered a 16oz bottle of WeaponShield and a needle sringe; how do you guys like this product? I hear it's the best...BB

Ask ten different people what is the best and you will get ten different answers and none of them will be wrong. They are all good for the most part and we are lucky to be shooting in times where there are so many good products on the market.

+1 Big Bore, I used " three in one" oil for years and thought I was really doing something!!! I can still smell that stuff...
