For those of you who use JF mags...
I recently bought a NIB USP that came with JF installed from factory, and 2JF mags (9mm,18rnd) along with V1 LEM and night sights also factory installed. I've done a search on this forum and have been reading that the mag springs wear out easily and will require replacement, Is this true? how many rnds before you noticed they needed replacement? I'm on the fence with the whole JF system, and have been considering buying 15rnd USP mags and just put the JF and mags up, I want this pistol to be as bulletproof as possible, If these mags have a poor track record I'd rather switch to regular mags and forget about the JF.At least with the 15rnd mags, replacement mag springs are easily found. So, what's the consenus on the JF mag spring life??? Good? Bad? Does anyone make a replacement spring??

I don't have a clue. I don't see why one mag spring would be more prone to wear than another.
After all, magazine springs aren't rocket science.

I've had no trouble with mine. However, springs wear out from cycles and mine do not have that many cycles on them, maybe a few hundred at most.
But, if they do wear out one can always replace them with STI 170 mm springs, for about $10 each from Brownells. I have used these quite a bit in my Frankenmag conversions, making 17 round .45 mags out of two 10 round mags and they have not worn out yet.
I tried one in a JF mag a week or two ago and it is too long for that mag and will need to be cut but that certainly is no big deal. The end cut will also need to have a hook bent on it to capture the locking plate, again, not a big deal to do with a couple of needle nose pliers.
So, if and when your springs fail, order a few STI Universal 170 mm springs from Brownells and make your own replacements.
