I am a fed prosecutor who does a lot of shooting and training as part of my job and personal pleasure. I have been texturing 1911 grips for about the last six months with some success. I have also done grips for beretta and most recently a P 7. Is there any interest in making the OEM polymer grip more agressive. Should I be thinking about aquiring OEM grips, texturing and reselling or focusing on texturing customer supplied grips?
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Seems like there could be a market. Right now really the only aftermarket ones are the Nil wooden grips (ala jubilee).
So, out of curiosity, what fine weapon does a DOJ prosecutor reach for when he needs a carry?

Interested. However I would like a polymer grip much like on benchmade knife.

That is usually G10 and that would be pretty sweet...but anything other than factory would be nice.

Link, this prosecutor is partial to the g35 glock with a TLR 1 (c4 cree) light, in a raven concealment holster. This is my primary rig as .40 glock is the gun of choice for most of my client agencies. I do own a g34 as well.
I am also partial to a 5 inch all steel 1911. I own a couple of Kimber series I guns which run well.
BUG is a 642.
So I am clear, I would texture either new OEM grips or customer supplied grips. As cool as they would be, i am not contemplating making up any grips from scratch ie. g10.

On the HK grips, I did not use a crater texture as I was concerned about warping the upper portion of the grip as it attaches with only one screw.
I did a pinprick texture up high ( think 80 girt sandpaper)and a more open texture down low ( each contact point was approx. a 3/16 inch oval) I am attaching a 1911 grip I do for contrast. Using that technique, no warping occured.
I think that the lower portion of the grip could take the crater texture given its thickness, I still have concerns re the upper and would not want it to "curl" away frame the frame. Wapring is essentially a non issue with 1911, beretta and other two screw grips.

Looks good to me, I don't know that there is a huge market for it. It seems those who are into it just do it themselves.
