I just bought an HK USP 45 and would like to buy some 12 round mags but factory mags are hard to find and too expensive for me so I would like to hear your experiences with the 12 round Pro-Mags please. A friend of mine has two Pro-Mags for his USP 45 and they work good and the reviews for them on MidwayUSA are positive.

I also need to get a new recoil spring and Wolff Gunsprings says factory is 14 pounds but that sounds low, would 16 or 18 pound work better or does 14 work fine? Anyone have instructions on how to swap recoil springs?

Thank you.

The pro mags have a bad rep. Never used them myself, but pay your money and take your chance &c

I have never gotten anything good from Pro-Mag.

Same here. Factory mags are higher but I would rather be confident that I have a reliable system.

Pro- Mags are garbage and Helmut Weldle was fully capable of figuring out the proper recoil spring weight in his design.

Have you ever used Pro-Mags? If so, how was your experience? And are you saying 14 pound springs work good?

Honestly - except for Mecgar, all other brands of aftermarket mags usually suck.

Go check www.cdnninvestments.com

They have some decent prices on mags. Otheriwse, save your money for a few more bucks, because the Promags will likely be paperweights.

aside from being a small effort to replace the recoil spring,..most people like to try running a lighter spring,...as it sometimes helps with muzzle movement in recoil. SOme like the lighter spring as the gun may track better for them. Does not hurt to try. Try a ligher hammer spring,..as this also causes movement /resistance when the gun cycles.

I just bought 3 of the 10 round magazines from CDNN for $60 for my USP 45. I opted for the quality of the HK mags and gave up 2 rounds/mag. I can live with that. But already had 3 of the HK 12 rounds mags that came with the gun.

I agree with the last post, if I had to pick betweek 10 rnd factory mags & Pro-Mags of any size, I would go with the factory mags. I purchased Pro-Mags once for my USP .45f. Threw them away after the first range session.
