View Full Version : What kind of USP/P2000sk video should I do next?

So after doing an LEM description video and a Jet Funnel installation video, I'm open to suggestions about what kind of video to do next. http://www.youtube.com/user/MaverickH1

Ideally, I'd like to do videos that answer the questions we see too much here on HKPro.

Your thoughts?

Night sights installation? Proper cleaning?

WOW...thats a tough one. I loved the first vids you did, and want more. You already answered all of my questions with the LEM video, so I am stumped as to what I want to see next.

I know you said that you are borrowing the camera so are not sure how many future vids u will be able to do. Someone NEEDS to buy you a camera cause the vids were that good.

I think for frequent questions on here though I would go with what FORGETFUL said. There are often questions regarding proper cleaning. The problem with cleaning is that everyone does it a little different, and uses different solutions. Maybe detailed dissasembly?

Another question I see alot is the " how to use Hk sights " question.

At any rate I will look forward to your future videos. I subscribed after the first one.

How about a video of how to take down and clean a USP/P2000 for all the new guys just buying a HK for the first time, IMO I like videos of learning how to do things much better than reading them out of a manuel...

I'd agree with the cleaning of the usp video.

Alrighty. I'll do a video for field stripping, and then a separate video for cleaning. Only problem is that I forgot the tri-pod, so I'll have to rig something up.

Yikes.

If anyone has any more suggestions, let me know. Don't be afraid to send me a PM if you don't want to seem "dumb" to the "public". Remember, there are no dumb questions, just dumb people. :D

Okay, one video uploaded for field stripping. The "cleaning" video was uploading overnight, but my computer decided to update and shut down. That always seems to happen when I actually want it to stay on.

So "cleaning" video uploading now.

Clean your firing pin/extractor channel and video it. I am new here and in my research the task seems easy enough but you doing it first makes me feel better. :)

I would like to see the USP completely stripped and put back together.

YES I need this.

The only reason I shy away from doing a complete disassembly video is because I'm no armorer, I'm just a workbench tinkerer. And while I've completely disassembled my USP twice and put it back together twice successfully, I don't have the confidence to share that with other people. Since I might be doing something wrong that I don't know about.

I may do a simple video about the slide, though. That I do have confidence in, as I've done that probably 10 times.

But for now, I'm trying to edit this video to be below 10 minutes...

Okay, this is a huge pain. The video is too long, and it's in the wrong file type to edit it on my computer. So I'm sending it off to my brother for him to convert to a different file.

This will take a couple days.

I can definately understand and appreciate that, its honest.

I worry about completely stripping mine anyways as I understand it will void warranty?

I gave up on trying to convert this video to edit it, and shot three different videos to make a Part 1, 2, and 3 of a cleaning video. I had to use one of those stupid white plastic kitchen timers to make sure I didn't go over the YouTube maximum of 10:59 minutes, with a bit of a safety factor inbetween. But I also had to hide it inside a padded rifle case so the camera didn't pick up that ticking sound they make.

As luck would have it, 10 minutes is how long I cook my chocolate chip cookies, so my internal clock timed this thing perfectly. MMmmmm... coooookies...

My makeshift tri-pod is kind of interesting. I'm doing these videos on my Grandfather's old drafting table, and it has a crane-like fixture on it, the head has an 8" circular fluorescent lamp, and inside the light is a big ol' magnifying glass. I'm standing the camera on that magnifying glass looking down at the table. It makes the pictures fuzzy, but it sure is better than anything else I could come up with.

Anyhow, there ya go. I'm probably going to have to add some notations to this video as well to correct any errors I made.

Any more suggestions are welcome. I may do a video of two USPs side by side, one suppressed, one unsuppressed. Just for giggles. And I'll probably do a take down of the slide as well.

Thank you, thank you.

For whatever reason, the short 3rd video is taking forever to upload to YouTube.

Someone might have already suggested this and my apologies if it's here but if not....

I know you're not an armorer but how about a video on changing out the springs to lighten the trigger pull?

Thank you, guys. Just started uploading a "HK Pistol Magazine Information" video, and made a chart to go with it:

http://filebox.vt.edu/users/hummer/Pictures/HKPistolMagCompatibility.JPG

I then tried to do a video for stripping the slide completely. With my crappy Macgyver'ed tri-pod, the camera just kept walking off when I was hammering. So I ended up doing 20 minutes of video for nothing because a lot of the important stuff was off camera by accident. So I'm trying to figure out a good solution, if one exists.

Well keep up the good work. I'd love to see that video showing how to clean my firing pin channel better.

If I can figure out how, I will do it. I may have to set up and do it on the floor.

I'm getting corrections on this Mag Compatibility Chart. I knew I'd forget/not know something.

i think a comparison video would be cool of the different types of hk's (ie the p2000 vs the usp compact) or hk's verse the many other types of other guns (ie hk 45 vs xd45)

Can we have a video of a female stipping, and then cleaning the USP?

I would certainly do this kind of thing if I had more firearms to compare it to. Unfortunately, I don't unless you want me to compare the USP to an old Dreyse 1907 :D

I asked around, no takers yet. But I will press on.

I'm totally psyched. I actually managed to capture what a bullet sounds like flying through the air.

The concept was simple, I wanted to isolate the sound of a gunshot from the camera, but I wanted the camera to be able to pick up the sound of a bullet flying by. It worked fairly well with my silenced USP 40. You barely hear the gunshot, but you can certainly hear the bullet on the 2nd and 3rd shots.

Sounds much like striking the wire on an electric fence.

And uploading a video of a side by side of suppressed and unsuppressed USP 40s as well.

I don't know why I'm so excited about this. Originally, I was going to make an army of well packed midget zombie snowmen and go to town on them, but the snow was no good at making even small snowballs. So my attempt at making twisted snowmen like Calvin from Calvin and Hobbes must wait once again.

maverick you have any friends in the area that will let you use their guns for like 5 min so you can review them? if not i think the answer is pretty clear - time to buy more guns :83:

I want to do this... but I also don't. I've grown to come VERY accustomed to HK style controls. I don't want to hold another gun for 10 minutes and try to give a review on it. Like the XDm, for example. Felt great, shot okay, I dropped the mag every 2 rounds because my grip was pushing the button... and I disliked a couple other things about it... but they weren't necessarily bad. Just different.

I would LOVE to do an overall review of all kinds of pistols out there... kind of a "what do you want in a concealed carry handgun?" video. That would require a stop at a very well stocked gun shop, though. And I don't frequent gun stores with that kind of selection.

IF I can get my hands on a camera in the near future, I have a few videos that I have in mind that I want to do.

- Redo of the P2000sk torture test now that it has the V2 spring in it.
- After the P2000sk torture test, I MIGHT do a complete disassembly video. It will take a lot of uploads, though. It will be difficult to make sure that what I'm doing is in view of the camera at all times.
- Review of Laser Devices BLAST unit, and other LDI equipment w/ regards to the HK USP and USPc.
- Sight installation. I may actually have someone send me their slide to do this, because my sights are exactly where I want them. I just loc-tited in my USP sights, and the P2000sk sights were a bear to get in.
- And I forgot the other thing...
- And last but not least... off roading videos for the motorcycle!

I have not given up on my midget zombie snowmen idea, either.
