I have a MK23 that is wonderful to shoot and would like to handload some ammo to shoot in target competition with it. I have shot Federal Gold Match and thought that would be a good round to use. i bought some 185 grain FMJSWC and am thinking of reloading them. Does any body have a good velocity that I should settle in on. i am thinking around 900 FPS. I would like the lightest load that would still cycle the gun
Thanks
Todd

Why handload - Just buy Black Hills or match ammo and go for it!

Start with a reloading book. Take no recipies from internet commando's. Start with reloading 5 or 10 from lower end of the chart. If you reload a whole box,,you just have to unload more shells if you don't like or they don't work. If that cycles ok,,,see if they are accurate in your gun. If they don't cycle, increase up the chart until they do. DO NOT start at top of chart,, which you probably won't since you already want low recoil.

Good handloads are a journey, usually not found on the first try. I speak from 30+ yrs of handloading,,,it's worth it.
