Has anyone shot silver or golden bear in their p30? If so did they have any problems? I have no problem shooting Russian ammo through my aks, but I don't want to put crap ammo into my precious. I have no doubt the p30 can handle it, I'm just wondering if the ammo is harder on the extractor or inaccurate. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

The only weapon I've run Golden Bear, or any other Russian ammo through has been my Czech built CZ vz58. I digests all of it well, but then that's what it was designed to run on. I've never fed any of my HKs Russian ammo. The stuff doesn't burn cleanly and accuracy can vary greatly by lot, or brand. I remember standing next to a kid using Wolf ammo in his Glock and I could have swore he was shooting black powder. If I used any communist block ammo in my pistols I would make sure it was brass cased and non corrosive for sure. I've also noticed that most supplies of Golden Bear, Barnaul, and Wolf ammo are out of stock. Russia must be gearing up to take out the Ukraine, Georgia, or both and have the factories manufacturing orders for their military rather than export. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if that was the case. It's a shame because I need to build up my supply of Russian 7.62x39 and there's none to be found.

^^^We're also using Wolf ammo to arm the Afghan military. Go figure.

All the russian arms and ammo have been banned from import, I can't seem to find the link atm, but the ban came in late october or early november. This is the reason it's so had to find wolf, and the reason the Romanian AKs have suddenly jumped in price.

I used to only use the steel cased stuff in my AK, but the more I thought about it I realized that the cost of a replacement extractor or replacement firing pin is nothing compared to the money I save on feeding russian steel cased ammo over the wwb or umc, and the wolf is not much dirtier then either of them.

Now I use wolf in my ARs, HKs, and Glocks at the range, but the good stuff for duty ammo. I keep a close eye on the extractor, and have yet to notice any added wear.
