My brother-in-law and I were shooting our guns out at the father-in-law's place, which happens to be right by the river. He has a target mound about 10 yards away from the river, so needless to say, it's pretty sandy. We waited until it was dark so we could use our night sights and his new tac light. Then, low and behold, after I finished a clip, I ejected the mag, and dropped the gun into a nice pile of the finest sand you'll ever see. The sand COVERED everything, and since the slide was locked back, it got into the slide and trigger mechanism.

At this point, I was shocked that I did it, especially since I bought it new in December! After a moment, I decided "Oh well...let's see if it will fire!" The sand was so gunked up in the side that it wouldn't even release all of the way. I had to work the slide several times before it would. After that, I put several clips through it, and not one malfunction. It fired flawlessly!

Accidental torture test!

Fast forward to tonight. I am cleaning the gun, and have noticed some of the finish has worn off inside the slide and barrel (which is to be expected). The trigger is VERY gritty. I am working hard to get it clean, but am a little concerned for the trigger.

Any recommendations for cleaning the sand out of my trigger mechanism?

Just me, but I would detail strip that thing. Small punch and a small needle nose pliers is all you absolutely need. Heck I did it just for fun in the USPc.

I would have to agree with doing a detail strip and cleaning the hell out of it.

Been cleaning away. I've tried using the USP detail dissassembly instructions to detail strip it, but the P2000 appears to be a little different. Does anybody know of an Armorer's manual or instructions anywhere?
