So i've found a used HK45 that I don't think has even been shot for $825, CDNN raised their prices to $891 and claim they are the last ones to completely be made in Germany.

So my question is...Will the one's made in Germany be harder to find after they start making them here and/or will they be anymore expensive? I was really wanting to wait until my income tax refund but i'm sure I can pass up the used one. Is it a good deal?

I would go with the best price, I had asked about the German VS US made about a year ago. The consensus was they are going to be equal in quality.

This is an interesting question. I think we can look at Sig, for example...Their German mfr, guns are a connoseurs' delight, but they varied their somewhat US made guns as far as model variations, marketing and some other fluff with the end result of ever more costly pistols.

I pray Hk leaves well enough alone.

Good point. I can vouch on the SIG quality control issue. Lets hope HK's stay as they have been in the past. Are not some of the newer P7M8's US built? I have a AH and it has been great!

I have one on the way that should be here Wed or Thur. I'll let all know where it was made if anyone cares. I thought they were all made in the US for the US market the HK45 that is.

To answer your questions, yes I think the German made guns will be harder to find once they start producing them here in the US. I don't know if they will be any more expensive or not but I doubt they would come down in price.
No one can know for sure if the USA made guns will be equal in quality until they get into circulation and are tested. My guess is they will be fine.
For what it's worth, I'm glad I have a German made HK45. To me it just seems like H&K's should be built in Germany.

HK is assembling HK45's in NH at Wilcox as we speak. They are assembled with US-molded frames and most other parts to include the barrel and slide which come in from HK GmbH Germany. There is talk of other parts like the slides being made here also. I am unaware if any have been released yet to the public or when that is likely to occur. As the .45 ACP round is typically an American cartridge and only really popular in the states for the most part I would guess German-produced HK45's will be replaced by the Wilcox assembled guns once they are available and the teething pains are worked through. If the plans for pricing of US assembled MR rifles as discussed at the recent SHOT Show are any indication it is unlikey that one will see a reduction in the sale price of US HK45's over those imported complete from Germany. While there may be no import duty on US assembled guns there still is duty on parts and then you have to figure in the costs for the frame molding machine, assembly fixtures and all the QA and test firing materials required - no cheap date.

Would be an interesting comparison - a side by side assessment of a German-produced HK45 and one assembled in NH - the first HK firearm assembled in the US. Sounds like a fun task for the 2009 HKProfest. Tom?

To answer you Bigash
Yes it's a good deal.
Yes, I would think the HK plan of building the HK45 here is to not need to import them anymore, so they will be harder to find for the all German ones.
Either way, I think it's obvious the DE guns will command a premium over the US made. Why? Just because thats the way it is.

HK is assembling HK45's in NH at Wilcox as we speak.

The first "batch" is in Georgia as we speak, waiting to be shipped to distributors.

At least, that's what I was told Monday when I called there to inquire about LEM availability on the HK45.

I think i'm gonna go ahead and pick one up.

If I call CDNN who should I ask for? Will they hook HKPro members up with anything??

I have called CDNN several times and everyone I have spoken to knows there sh*t. I just got mine today and already really enjoying yet. Well as much as you can without firing it yet.
