you should not take any gun apart beyond field stripping to clean it.

Eat me!

J/K that was pretty funny.

The OP can search under my name and read all about it. In short I bought 1k of them that are ISO 8748 3x14mm and am willing to part with some more. A few members bought some off me since the smallest I could purchase them in was per 1k.

HK told me that the areas of the FP channel and extractor should be detail cleaned every 500 rounds. In my opinion if it is not a CCW gun then I would double that but for me my HK is my CCW gun and I plan to maintain it accordingly. I spoke in length about this with Travis at HK and for those HK owners that want to call a filed strip good enough then so be it but these areas are easy to clean and there is no harm in doing so. The harm of not cleaning in there or doing the CLP followed by compressed air is not suggested by HK and could leave to malfunctions. My gun gets cleaned but others can do as they wish.

I will dig up my old thread in a hour or so and post some pics of the pins I have vs the ones that came out of the gun. The installed pins look to be light duty and according to the manual they should be Heavy Duty hence the ISO 8748 rating which is a standard method of rating the strength of the pins.

Even though these weapons are made for heavy use with little to no oil why do it. I just suggest that you know what you are doing and have the proper tools before you take it apart. It doesn't make much since that this is the only pistol that should be cleaned by field stripping and not full disassembly.
