USPc slide release made of...?

Anyone know what type of metal this is made of? The cylindrical part looks nice and machined, but the "handle" portion looks almost cast? I dropped this part to the ceramic tile floor while cleaning, reckon there is a way to ensure it isn't cracked/damaged?
