View Full Version : Need suggestions for tricking my USP
After getting my P2000sk my USP 9F gets no love. Im surprised and impressed by how well the little P2sk shoots. I was shocked that Im more accurate with it that my USP and it carries SO easy.
I'm guessing that the P2sk just fits my hand better, so I want to do 3 things to my USP
1) I would like to polish/smooth the trigger or buy parts to try making the trigger a little better. This is the DA/SA (V1 I believe)(P2sk is LEM BTW)
2) Would like to wrap the grip with something. I did research and found inner-tube material works good. Anyone have any tricks to share? Pics would be helpful and appreciated.
3) Want new sights. I would need some suggestions on what is out there as I have no clue whats hot and whats not. I saw the straight 8s and they look real nice, but need other suggestions and experiences.
Im within a budget, so any other budget minded tricks/tips would be helpful.
Thank you in advance for your input.

For #2 get a Hogue grip. Usually around $15 shipped.

Simple solution to your problem(s).
1. Match Trigger from Robert at RTG
2. Houge Handall > $8.95 everywhere.
3. Sights > Meps in std or adjustable or for a different look maybe TFO's (a fav of mine but I don't have a FS USP).
Then go SHOOT!

+1 for the Houge grip and Trijicon nite-sights (or Meprolight).
Should have mentioned I have Tru Dot sights, and factory sights...dont like them at all and would prefer something different. Im diggin the straight 8s but want to see what else is out there (not like the factory sights)
What is RTG? How about TFO?

RTG http://www.robertrtg.com/misc.html
He carries Match and LEM trigger kits as well as flat/extended floorplates and O-rings. Match kits are currently out of stock but there is a waiting list on them.

For your trigger, send it to Bill Springfield. It will be so much better.

Step#1 - Put that USP9 up for sale on this forum at a reasonable price and get rid of it.
Step#2 - Buy yourself a nice USP9 Tactical (or Combat Competition) and start enjoying the new match trigger and adjustable match sights.
Step#3 - Go to CDNN and buy the Hogue Handall for $8.95, let it sit in direct sunlight for 2 hours, stretch it out first, then slide it on your new gun.
Do these 3 steps, and I can GUARANTEE that P2000SK will have some serious competition at the range!!

That is good advice, except I never sell my firearms...and especially wouldn't sell one right now. I buying a new one would be way stretching my budget but might make the most sense since it will be used as a SD tool and would prefer to have a factory set up for "legal" safety.
Out of curiosity is the match trigger worth buying?
Does it reduce the reset distance, make the the trigger lighter??
How about smoothing/polishing the stock trigger parts myself? Is that worth my time to do for the results it would produce?

why not buy a treaded barrel and then attach a suppresor to it.

I am no expert on HK triggers. If I remeber correctly, the USP 9MM Tactical does not come with the match trigger, it has the standard USP trigger. The Combat Comp comes with a modified LEM/Match trigger.
I have a NIB 9MM Tactical, it is termed "tactical" on the HK website, but the packaging labels it a "SD".

I own an USP SD and it does not come with a match trigger, or an O-ring barrel.
Unless you want to put a can on it, or you love the USP line, I would recommend the P30 before another USP.

Ditto Perseus...
lol. I ment to type another sentence on my post.
My 9MM SD does not have the match trigger. (or the o-ring)
But, I am going to have a match trigger installed in it, and a jet funnel.

Dirt Rider: You are absolutely right on the money, I stand corrected! Both the 45 (mine) and 40 Tacticals get the match trigger, but the 9 does not. Go figure. Oh well, disregard Step #2 unless you want to join the major leagues and buy yourself a HK BIG BORE!!!!!
I want a simple, reliable carry sidearm that fits me and shoots well, so after the suggestions I decided to:
--Try the innertube trick (some claim its better than the Hogue grip) while the grip is on order.
--Compare to Hogue later when it arrives
--Getting Heinie Straight 8s
Since this is a defensive peice as its main role Im leary about messing with the trigger. Ill give the stock trigger time to work itself in since I only have less than 300 rounds through it so far.
PS: I held a P30 today...WOW that pistol feels great in the hand. Too rich for my blood though @ about $935 total w/fees...Dang, and I thought my baby P2K was expensive
