I just picked up a 1993 date code KD USP 40 V3. I'm a bit new to HK's. It started with a P7M8 about a month ago, then a new P2000 (9mm V3), and a near perfect first year USP came by.... I way looking at a new HK45C but the price and interest in a first year USP got my attention. It looks practically new with no holster wear and appears to have been fired very little. It also came with a soft case, manual and 5 mags. It has the land and groove barrel and non-captive recoil spring. I detail stripped / cleaned and have on order a new factory power Wolff recoil spring, Trijicon night sights, and a reduced power hammer spring. I noticed that the DA/SA pull is not as "refined" as my P2000. I know that they made improvements to the trigger pull after initial introduction to reduce stacking and make smoother. I'm hopping the hammer spring will help with pull weight but probably not improve some of the stacking that is present.

Anything else I should do this beauty beside shoot it? Are there any durability issues with certain parts that have been improved since the first year? Is there any collector value to a 1993 USP, at least to a HK fanatic?

Thanks for any advice form the HK experts?

Hey Dan, Nice acquisition. I can't answer your questions about durability, but I would think there are collector's out there who would LOVE a first year USP, me included. I picked up a LNiB KE USP .40 a year or so ago and was ecstatic.

May I ask what you paid for it? Any plans to sell in the future? I know these 2 questions together may be a conflict of interest LOL.

Send it to Bill Springfield to adjust your trigger. The best $55 you'll spend. I don't think you'll have a durability problem.
