A friend has a HK Chantilly VA P9S .45 cal. that he'd be willing to sell me for $1,500. This if the first one I have seen and have not a clue to what it might be worth. It comes with a extra mag. instruction book, cleaning rod, and cardboard box. But I'm thinking the box is not original to the gun because on the side the serial tag was removed. Or maybe the tag just came off. The gun looks great. No scuff, scratches or wear of any kind on it. It looks to be new.
If I could get some ideas of what its worth I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks!

A bit too high in my opinion
Check GunBroker
They pop up there often....I would say you can get a stock 45 acp P9S for less then that if you look around.
Just my opinion
It is about the going rate though for a VERY VERY VERY clean 99% one probably, but if you can wait...there are definatly deals to be found on the 45 models

case in point above...if you want a shooter
If you want a safe queen, then you will prob have to cough up close to that number, but I would make sure its perfect, matching box, paperwork etc AND make sure it has at least two mags as they have crept up to about 100 per mag now :(
my 2 cents

Unless it is like brand new, never been fired, that sounds pretty high. I've seen several lately in excellent shape from $900 to $1200.

Boy,, it looked new to me. Unfired? Not real sure how to tell if one has been fired or not. I would guess the factory fired it for testing. I didn't look down the bore but the outside of the gun was mint. The box was in very good condition though but not numbered to the gun. It looked like the tag on the edge of the box was taken off because I could see glue residue where it had been.
I've looked at gun broker but I didn't see many .45's there. The few that I did see didn't look as nice as the one I was looking at. Does a Chantilly VA. import mean anything. Reason I ask this is because I have seen GB auctions before for P7M8's where the seller states that his gun is a Chantilly import, like this was a plus. Is it?
If after future review the gun appears not to have been fired, should I buy,, or wait for another?

If the box has no number...it could be a box from a police buy back 9mm version...I would say for 1500 thats TOP dollar and the box should match and the gun should look incredible....and with that said...your at about top dollar sooooooooooo Up to you..I doubt if u wait on it you would have any problems finding another for 1500 down the road...
again just my 2 cents
Chk here on the WTB boards...this is about the best place to start...99% of guys/gals here have quality stuff...ALL my buying experiences here have been top knotch

You should check if it's the "Target" model with adjustable sights & trigger, in which case it would be a smokin' hot deal no matter what condition. As others have mentioned, $1500 is a little strong for an ordinary "Combat" (fixed sight) model unless it's a stone cold NIB collectors rig with all the goodies.
But you're missing the boat if it's gonna be a safe queen. The P9S .45 is like a Ferrari -- the very best of everything but doesn't make much sense until it's used as intended by it's makers. Just a fantastic shooting gun in every way.

Offer the guy $1250, see what he says. All he can say is no. It's a fine gun, but not one normally bought by your average Joe. (And yes, if it is the "Target" model, grab that puppy in a heartbeat!)

WELL SAID above!!!
It's a shame to leave that gun in a safe and NOT fire it!!!!
If it's the Target Model GET IT....
If not...I think your at the high range of the high range lol for a reg one without matching box/target/etc

No, it's not the target model. It looks new to me. I'll be seeing it again in a few days and will take a closer look at it and will look at the bore to see if its been fired much.
On the slide this one had the red HK and the lettering was in an off white. The ones that I seen on GB didn't have this done on the slide. Did they come from the factory this way with the lettering in red and white? Or did the owner have this done? If factory done does this add value to the gun?
I'll offer less and see what he says.

You wont be able to tell from the bore, its polygonal, and will appear very shiny. (unless shot with corrosive ammo...)
Remove the slide and inspect the hammer face for wear, that is the simplest check.
Look closely at the mags, where the feed lips join the mag body, for signs of bluing wear. If you see it, it is an early indication of potential cracking, as the P9S mags will fail in that area if they are repeatedly forcefully inserted.
As for the lettering, it did not leave Chantilly with the paint.

I'm a new member here on HKPRO and this was my first thread. I tip my hat and give a big "Thanks" to all that answered with my questions. Your help is greatly appreciated.
I'll closely looked over the gun and ask about maybe getting it at a lower price. If not then I'll pass.
Thanks Again,
RockJock
