ToddG of http://pistol-training.com/ reports today:

"This afternoon, I had lunch with the new President of Heckler & Koch’s U.S. operation, Mr. Wayne Weber. Of particular interest to pistol-training.com readers, Wayne informed me that their very popular P30 handgun should be available in .40 S&W by September of this year.

If you’ve been looking for a P30 in 9mm and can’t find one, it’s no surprise. Apparently, HK hasn’t been able to make them fast enough to meet tremendous U.S. demand.

The HK45 is now ramped up for full production in New Hampshire, so made-in-America HK pistols are on dealer shelves now. The HK45 Compact will start being manufactured in the U.S. some time during 2Q09."

Does that mean H&K pistols manufactured in Germany will be rare? Will I have to find a supplier that sources their stock from outside of the United States?

I have a feeling it will be made along HK45C in the US.
I would like to see one in 357Sig for me. Either US made or German.

This is good news, I knew I was holding back on a P30 for a reason. Now if only they would start putting HK45's out in LEM already.

Maybe,..just maybe they will make it with a big magwell,...and larger capacity mags. That would make it an excellent gun for Limited,..or even L10.

Did he happen to say when another batch of 9mm guns will get here? Seems like everyone is stuck on $850 plus on what few I have run across. I do not want a LEM gun either.

The idea of a P30L in .40S&W is enticing:150000:.

You have a better chance getting Ms Spears naked on your pool table seeing 357's have a shelf life of like 2-3 years!

Is this for real? I would like to think so but I'm not sure. If it is, how come there was nothing at Shot Show?

This is seriously great news, if it's true. I don't see why it wouldn't be. The US market for H&K pistols is huge. They can't even make the newer guns (P30/L, HK45, 45c) fast enough to keep up with the demand. Considering they just opened a new facility in the US to increase production, they might as well make full use of it and offer more options to the consumer. Hell, they probably know that most people who buy one H&K pistol end up buying more due to that damn H&K bug going around:)

This is good for me because I can't afford another gun right now. By the time I can I'll have at least one more option if this news is true. A P30L chambered in .40s&w would be awesome....it would be a .40s&w tack-driver for sure.

I don't know how I feel about the US-made H&Ks. Honestly, if it's still an H&K in quality I can care less. Sure, it sounds like blasphemy to most H&K fanatics but as an American I can't complain about something made in the U.S.A. However, if I run into some money in the near future I might try and find a German-made HK45 or 45c while I still can. They might even go up in value once they start making all of them in the US.

Is this for real? I would like to think so but I'm not sure. If it is, how come there was nothing at Shot Show?Maybe to keep the feeding frenzy at bay for the time being...

To get media attention she is doing anything, so I would not rule that out!
With increasing age that will only get worse! ;)

While the .357 SIG is not as popular as 9m or .40, it has its fans.
I would love to get a P30 in .357 SIG. That would be the only gun I would give my current P2000 .357 SIG up for!

The P30 .40 was/is only a question of time.
With the .40 properly being the most used caliber in LE, it’s a logical step.

I have been asking about the P30/P30L in .40sw for a long time - i will get one IF the P30L in .40sw is released...if it ever is. Wait and see...one can only hope.

I second that motion, I was very close to buy the P30L in 9mm but in hopes of a later model of a P30L in 40cal I waited. Better yet if they were to make the P30L 40cal tactical I would be all over that too.....

Now the big question is, once they produce all those guns in the US, any chance HK may reduce the price a little since the manufacturing is local and so I assume most of their suppliers and they don't have to pay labor in the big expensive Euros??????
