I have been wanting a P7 PSP for awhile. First off this will be a shooter, and yes I will be carrying it in the summer. I like these two below because the factory blue finish from what I see is easily worn from carry. What do you guys think of the 2 below? Each has a aftermarket finish and grips. Are these worth $1000-1100.00 thats proubably what the auctions will end at. Does the aftermarket finish on these hurt the value of the firearm? Thanks guys Colt
First one I am leaning toward (finish is brushed/electroless nickel):

Second one I like (finish is corrosion resistant hard chrome):

That's a bit steep for P7PSPs. Refinishing does detract from resale price. You can buy a like new P7PSP from CDNN for nearly half what those pistols are going for. I prefer to keep my carry piece in a dark finish. Draws less attention. Good luck. You'll enjoy the P7.

Doesn't Robar charge about $275 for their NP3 finish? I'd be tempted to buy one of CDNN's "very good" P7's for $550 and have the re-finish work done myself.

I thought about this already. Ill still have in it around what I would be paying for it straight out................
Finish $275-300
grips $80-100
shipping $40-50
Transfer fee $25.00
Gun $550-650
Total $970-1125.00

I did think about buying a nice blued on for around $650-700.00 and refinishing it my self. I have quite a bit of experiance with spraying Duracoat. Flat black with dull satin finish would look nice with the $80.00 walnut grips. But I have so many projects to work on this year already...........

You make a great point and your prices seem spot on. It still seems like you're paying a lot. Most of the time we don't get back every penny we invest in customizing something you know what I mean? And you're paying the seller every dime. But time is valuable and to not have to worry about sending it off and having something happen to it can be worth it. I guess you have to make that call. Those are very nice guns for what it's worth.

I think it still might be worth checking out CDNN as there prices are the best on the block when it comes to the P7, I know they have great prices right now for the Grade A or B's P7's for half the price of the one you are wanting to buy, and the ones from CDNN dont need to be refinished and you could carry it like it is...But thats just my two cents, Good Luck with your purchase and I promise you will enjoy the P7 it is a great gun for CCW..and is extremly accurate for its size due to it having a fixed barrel.. BTW the one you have pictured is a great looking gun, what kind of wood grips are those on the P7? I want a Pair for my P7M8!

CDNN also has some with chrome(or something) slides, done in Germany, thats prolly the way I would go, or just get a cheapy trade in and carry as is, then someday if you want refinish it

CDNN has a silver finish one for $649, if you really like shiny finish.
Do a search on Park city tactical, there is a thread recently on the different types of finish vs corrosion resistance vs wear factor, very nice comparison. You can make an informed-choice. $1100 for a dressed up P7 seems a little steep. The ones at GB are usually overpriced. If you are thinking about refinish, then there is no need to get one in pristine condition(eg get one w/ holster wear),although the grades done by HK are based on internal conditions. Wood grips on P7 look nice but are not as sturdy as plastic ones, they are known to break easier than plastic ones.
If you are thinking about refinish, make sure you find someone who can put the parts back together & function properly! Have heard some horror stories.
CDNN grade B is $549

Beware: not all P7 series grips are interchangable, esp PSP & P7

They're actually done for/by CDNN somewhere locally, according to the guy I ordered my P7 from last week. Not sure what the "T25" finish is, but from what they describe it is essentially an electroless nickel.
