Few questions about my new P2k

I'm officially carring my P2K .40 on duty now and I have a few questions. It was raining last night which made me think. There is a small gap between the frame and the top of the back strap(where the web of the hand goes) Do I need to be concerned with the hammer strut and spring getting rust. Also does dirt and debris get in there and need to be cleaned out from once and a while. Does this area need to be lubricated from time to time. Also is there a way to keep the right slide release from rattling. So far, I think I love this gun.

The gun should be cleaned and dried after exposure to a dirty/moist environment, but I think the spring is stainless anyway.
As far as the R slide release, welcome to the club. I took mine off. I saw a suggestion of a drop of clear nail polish on the back of the release(to eliminate the gap), which seems like it would quiet it.

So far I havent had any issue with that portion of the backstrap, never really noticed any buildup of debris or dirt in that area. You can always check by punching out the rollpin and release the backstrap if you're concerned about it. I haven't lubricated that section at all.

The rattling slide release is common on the P2000 series. Not sure much can be done about it other than take it off.

The rattling is common with the P2000 series as well as the P30 series and is normal, I have a P2000 40 and slide release rattles as well...As far as cleaning my handgun when its exposed to water I just break mine down and clean with with some CLP Breakfree and I have never taken the backstrap off nor have I ever noticed any dirt build up around it..
