Hi Gents-

Happy to finally get onto a board that has the answers to my questions. I probably won't be that active, but I hope to learn a bit and help out if I can.

I just purchased my first HK, a USP CT. I love the gun, shoots well and perfect for my needs. I've been trying to figure out some of the features and am having a bit of trouble with the "decocker."

Can someone explain how this is supposed to work? I know on my ppk (if its cocked) I simply select "safe" and it automatically de-cocks the pistol and keeps a round chamber for DA.

On my HK, I chamber a round with it on safe, but it remains cocked. The only way I safely figure I can decock it is to drop the mag, and eject the round, then pull the trigger, letting the hammer fall back slowly.

Is there a way to decock this thing and keep a round in the chamber?

Please read your manual sir... yes you can keep a round in the chamber and use the decocker.

Push the safety lever down until it clicks. It is decocked.

Hmm I went through the manual again just now and didn't see it. Perhaps you could point me in the right direction?

Push the lever down, past the fire position to decock. Then return the lever to safe.

By pressing it "down" do you mean past "fire?" So I will physically see the hammer fall?

By pressing the decocking lever it drops the hammer into half cock, so it never touches the firing pin. Also, the firing pin block is engaged because you are not pulling the trigger. It's safe.
