Some folks on this thread are being disrespectful to the input of actual HK416 users. That is flat out dumb. Many of the statements being made are in fact factual. Ofcourse those who get their intel only from web sites and other outside sources would not know the difference between truth and BS.
Might I suggest before you cast stones, put your creds out their to back up your statements, opinions, WAG's. If you are not getting your information first hand as a user or from someone directly involved in the specific issue (first hand) then you might consider not posting. No one person has all the facts, I don't care where they work or what their access is.
Spooky hits on valid points and relays accurate data in many cases. Because of that I believe he is a legit user. While at HK I sold HK416's and uppers to most of the current LE and USG users. I would leave him alone unless you have proof he is wrong. He may just be protecting your butts somewhere and you wouldn't even know it. Thanks Spooky.
There is a lot going on right now with this subject that most would not know about and which I will not mention here. And he is correct. HK's are expensive to fix especially when they are used hard and daily and in large numbers - we all know that and it has only gotton worse in the past 2 years with the exchange rate. 20% increase in imported HK product is not uncommon, to include spare parts for guns like HK416. GMG's used to sell for $22K 3 years ago. They now are $30K+.
If you throw stones at me, first put your creds up for all to see or keep your fingers off the key boards. If you don't, you'll get zero response from me. We could use a bit of adult supervision on this particular forum from the moderator or from Tom himself.
