Like IMTHESKI said it's internal. I had a SPAS12, that part fell out of my receiver along with bits of hard black plastic.
On the metal disc, the side that has the tit, should have the hard plastic piece (the same Dia.) molded around it. The plastic piece is splined and fits into the back of the receiver. It's a recoil buffer.
I had a local gunsmith make the new part out of a better material, not sure what he used, but the gun worked fine after that.
Remove the trigger housing on the gun. Look into the rear of the receive. You should see a cylindrical recess. It's possible too,the disc may have just broken away from the buffer.
Hope this was helpful, Jason.
Romran, That was about 15 yrs ago and traded it for something else. You maybe able to Google a diagram or one of Franchi's older semi auto shot guns.
Did you look to see if there was a round depression for the buffer? I remember the metal disc faced forward and only pertruded out silghtly.
Look for a good smith in your area. It sounds like your gun has quite a bit of collector value due to the low import numbers. I wouldn't take a chance unless I was sure what I was doing.
Good luck, Jason.
