Default usp combat competition rear sight worked loose

was shooting my combat competition today and my first few shots were good, then i started hitting to the right - way right. i finished the mag, looked at the target and was puzzled. i then looked at the gun and the rear sight had drifted far to the right. it is the novak sight with an allen screw to keep it in place. should i use blue loc-tite on it and see how that does or should i send it in for repair?

Novak is a great company. I would send it in. They gave quick turn-a-round when I got their HK CC sights.Call them to discuss.

Hmm... comparing several days without the gun + paying for the postage against two minutes of Your own time to get it right? What kind of question is that?! :D Just drift it back, use some kind of thread locker and tighten it down where it belongs again. Job done ;)

I would just re-align the sight and retighten the set screw until snug.

If it happens again then by all means call Novak. I can personally attest, excellent company. :)

used some blue loctite on the screw threads. appears to hold fine. i still cant get this usp down; group sizes are twice the size of anything else. in the past two days i have shot my steyrs, a sig p226 and p225, fn high power, and a nighhawk grp (awesome gun!) and i still have trouble with the usp, i guess because of the grip size. at 7 yds, one hole with the grp was the norm, other guns i grouped about 2", usp about 4". someone in the next lane commented on how well i shot the usp and i said it wasn't good enough. he said i see all of them in a group smaller than a fist, i think its good. i said i guess you are right but inside i was ticked off. i need to get better with the usp, especially to justify the coin i laid out for it.

So this is the Combat Competition with the hybrid LEM/Match trigger set up - correct? If so, I'm assuming that the trigger is VERY different than all those other guns you shot, especially the single action Nighthawk.

I've found that when I shoot my HKs by themselves, I shoot SIGNIFICANTLY better than when I bring my Baer or Springer Custom along. Same thing, if I'm shooting a mixture of those guns, the 1911s will always outshine the HKs. At least for me, it's not automatic to immediately transition from the amazing triggers of John Browning to that of the HKs and vice versa.
Lord, help me to be half the man my dog thinks I am!

it is the hybrid match/lem trigger. my problem is a combination of trigger and grip. all of my other guns have smaller grips and/or are more ergonomic. i find myself changing the way i grip the usp constantly and the way my finger contacts the trigger changes. i think the accuracy is there as evidenced by an earlier pic i posted when i used the bench as a rest, 5yds at 10 rds:

but when i shot that group POA was dead center of the bullseye. i am better with the sights now but not consistent enough to try to use the usp in a competition and that is why i bought it in the first place. maybe after i run a thousand more rounds through it.
