Piston and rings are same as in G36/SL-8. I don't know anybody here who replaced them (even for shooting school rental rifles).

In very man made machinery there is probability that some parts will break, especially with time and use. But I don't see having spare 416s gas rings as neccesary as having spare DI AR-15 bolt ;)

But if you will put set of spare ones in your range bag, then for sure you will never need them - this is way it works, you know :)

I can`t read it loud cause of my other DI rifle. :).

Perhaps G3Kurz would be able to answer your question.

We sell replacement ring sets quite often. The believe the engineering concept is to design a cheap flaw into system. Wear and tear will eventually break something in a design. So design in a wear point that is easily and cheaply fixed. In this case it is the piston rings. Most likely the reason why HK patented their piston rings.

One test of your piston rings would be to turn the upper up right so piston can slide down. If it slides out easily that is a sign the rings are worn.

Thanks for ur reply ,yes it is a good idea u to have spare rings around and they are cheap,so it is like the bolt ring on an AR .Thanks again for help.It is a peace of mind hearing a good advice.
