Why do they call it a .308 and not a 7.62x51?

 

.308 is stamped on the left receiver--- cannot export that evil military round (7.62x51)!!! :biggrin:

Makes me feel like an idiot!! Told myself no new Hk purchases this month, then I saw and IB 91 a3 at a gun show this past weekend. Was not new in the box, but was around 92% and the seller wanted $2500 even for it. He had carved "Old Bess" in the handguard, but other than that it was in good shape. A3 with bipod, manual, and warranty card!! I bet this one on GB will go for at least 6000.

I think the seller might get his buy now price. The way in which HK's legacy arms have been selling, especially the 94's, we may see a new record for the price of a 91. Like someone stated in this post, you can have mine if you can get it from my cold dead hands!!

A few months ago I purchased a NIB IB with collapsible stock. It was in the original box but minus the original paperwork. However, it still had the factory wick in the barrel. $3200. It's now a shooter.

A big thanks to Miacovet for an exciting auction on GB for that unfired HK91 A3. I got that last night and a Swiss Sig P210 LS. Only 200 of those and most outside the US. Now I am very poor.

This is the second NIB HK91 I've seen go for big money. Is it safe to say a NIB HK93A3 would command even more potentially? Is this a peak in the market or do you guys think it's still heading north? Seems crazy.
